The Norwegian baritone Audun Iversen studied at the Norwegian State Academy of Music in Oslo, Hochschule für Musik und Theater Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy in Leipzig with Prof. Hans-Joachim Beyer, and at the Royal Opera Academy in Copenhagen with Susanna Eken, Martin Isepp, Fiona MacSherry and Mikael Eliassen. He graduated in June 2008.


Engagements have included Marcello in La bohème, Lescaut in Massenet's Manon and Albert in Werther at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Count in Le nozze di Figaro at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Figaro in Il Barbiere di Siviglia at the San Francisco Opera, Sharpless in Madama Butterfly at Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, the title role in Eugene Onegin at the Bolshoi Theatre as well as at the Royal Danish Opera, Norwegian National Opera, English National Opera, Opéra de Lille, Théâtre de Caen, Tel Aviv Performing Arts Centre and at the Epidaurus Festival in Athens, Count in Le nozze di Figaro at the Glyndebourne Festival as well as at the Proms Festival in London, The Protector in George Benjamin's Written on skin at Theater an der Wien, the title role in Don Giovanni with Glyndebourne Touring Opera, Count in Le nozze di Figaro, Silvio in I Pagliacci, Sharpless in Madama Butterfly, Schaunard in La Bohème, Hercule in Gluck’s Alceste and Viscomte Cascada in Die Lustige Witwe at the Royal Danish Opera, Zurga in Bizet’s Les Pêcheurs de Perles in Moscow, the title role in Eugene Onegin at the Norwegian National Opera, Marcello in La bohème with the Arctic Opera, Eumete in Il Ritorno d'Ulisse in Patria with the conductor Alan Curtis and concerts with the mezzo-soprano Elina Garanca.

 

Much in demand as a concert singer he regularly appears in concert halls and festivals throughout Europe. His repertoire includes Mahler's Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen, Beethoven's Symphony No. 9, Fauré's Requiem, Elgar's The Dream of Gerontius, Britten's War Requiem, and most frequently; Orff's Carmina Burana.

 

He has worked with conductors such as Giancarlo Andretta, Christian Badea, Giordano Bellincampi, Michael Boder, Nicholas Chalvin, Alan Curtis, Bruno dal Bon, Nick Davies, Thomas Dausgaard, Sir Andrew Davis, Stéphane Denève, Giuseppe Finzi, Adam Fischer, Michael Francis, Edward Gardner, Eivind Gullberg Jensen, Daniel Harding, Jakub Hrůša, Tõnu Kaljuste, Axel Kober, Ondrej Lenard, Joana Mallwitz, Ottavio Marino, Leo McFall, Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Muti, Kent Nagano, Kazushi Ono, Peter Oundjian, Antonio Pappano, Philipp Picket, Alexander Polyanichko, Alexander Rahbari, Jukka Pekka Saraste, Michael Schønwandt, Lan Shui, Vassily Sinaisky, Pinchas Steinberg, Thomas Søndergaard, Krzysztof Urbański, Emmanuel Villaume, Sebastian Weigle and Xian Zhang,.

 

The season 2014/15 included Olivier Strauss' in Capriccio at the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Giorgio Germont in La Traviata at the Norwegian National Opera, Conte di Luna in Il Trovatore with Opera Hedeland, the title role in Eugene Onegin in Trondheim and Tromsoe, Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 with Trondheim Symphony Orchestra as well as with Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra and a recital at Bergen International Festival.

 

The season 2015/16 included the title role in Wozzeck at Oper Frankfurt, Germont in La Traviata at the Norwegian National Opera, Orff's Carmina Burana in Paris with Chœur et de la Maitrise de Radio France, in Liverpool with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, in Prague with Czech Philharmonic and in Bratislava with the Slovak Philharmonic, Britten's War Requiem in Tokyo with New Japan Philharmonic, Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 with the Swedish Chamber Orchestra, Mahler's Rückert-Lieder and Nielsen's Symphony No. 3 with Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, Puccini’s Messa di Gloria with Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra, Operngala für die Deutsche AIDS-Stiftung in Düsseldorf, concerts with Trondheim Symphony Orchestra and a recital in Bonn.

 

The season 2016/17 has started with Marcello in La Bohème at the Royal Danish Opera, Orff's Carmina Burana in Prague with Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra as well as in Sarpsborg with Norwegian Youth Orchestra and a recital in Oslo.
